Oscars 2011 Red Carpet Picks

The 83rd Ocsar Awards ended the film award season for another year. Films like Inception and The King's Speech raked in numerous awards. I must say I actually watched the entire show... well it was recorded by Mother Tan and I did fast forward some parts but for the most of it it wasn't too bad. I'm very happy for both Natalie Portman and Colin Firth for their well deserved wins, but most importantly the fashion! This year saw an emphasis on the body with women showing their figures off. Red and purple where popular colours, with feathers, tulle and sparkle everywhere. My red carpet favourites are below:

- Cate Blanchett
: Daring as ever, the Aussie actress wore a violet Givenchy Couture dress. I love the somewhat oriental dress on Blanchett whom looks statuesque and elegant as ever.
Halle Berry: Wowing in a nude Marchesa dress adorned with crystals and tulle, Berry looks amazing with the dress complementing her luscious skin tone and I'm a big fan of her short do.
Natalie Portman: Notably a favourite of mine, wearing Rodarte the designers for Black Swan. Portman simply glows in the purple dress with matching tassel earrings.
Hilary Swank: Adding feathers to the mix, Swank wore Gucci. The bodice is sequin leading to a feathered train it gives somewhat of a 'sea-swept' feel.
Sandra Bullock: Looking fierce solo on the red carpet in Vera Wang, Bullock is red hot in the figure hugging dress.

Reality

One more week till university begins... and well hopefully my last.

This week reality hit.... basically meaning that my holiday is finally finished and now its time for me to think about the future, with my studies and general path in life. I remember when I was in high school I petrified of not knowing what I wanted to be or where I'd want to be, but now looking back I'm happy with my current position in life and the ways in which I direct my own journey.

I caught up with the lovlies Krystal and Yan this week. Well mulitple times for Vegie Bar, Wagyu Beef, Coffee and then for a bit of dancing as well.

I went back to work to Cotton On this week. Another sign that the holiday is over. I must say though I am happy to be back. I like working... as weird as that sounds. It gives me something to do with my time, and heck I get paid for it so I can't complain. Another positive note... shopping. I couldn't help myself so i bought a pair of sandals, black drop crotch harems and a pair of shorts.

I chopped my hair... Okay so chopped is a strong word, but it's a lot shorter. No longer can I play with my nice long fringe. I'm a person you loves to change it up every once and a while. I don't like feeling too comfortable. But yes I've got a shorter hairdo. Photos soon.

Random Fact: I find that I'm most productive in the early hours of the morning. I don't know why, hit 2am and my brain starts firing ideas and energy I find it very hard to ignore and go to sleep as I'd waste all of this. As we speak it is 2:41am my brain is hitting its mental peak, I'm not going to state the great ideas I've had but in time they will hopefully materialise, nevertheless I've very excited to share soon.

Savage Beauty

Credit: The MET

America is the next place I want to explore. This just gives me another reason to save up quicker to go.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art/MET is showcasing Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, a homage to the late designer which aims to follow McQueen's 20 year fashion career.

I would love love love to see this showcase, just because McQueen was such a visionary designer, someone who took the imagination and merged it with art and fashion.

There are some images (below) of some designs in the exhibit, which will have approximately 100 looks.

The exhibit opens on May 4 till July 31.

Anja Rubik - Vogue Australia April 2011

Polish model Anja Rubik covers the April issue of Vogue Australia. This furthers Vogue Australia's model cover approach, which I'm still very all for.

Rubik's cover image is interesting, with a wide leg stance and a suggestive hand over her mouth, I wouldn't say its the best.

The issue features the Australian androgynous model Andrej Pejic and his 'Gender Bending' take on fashion. I'm just going to have to get myself a copy.

Amanda Seyfried lands another cover, this time she is on the April cover of Marie Claire UK.

Continuing the promotion for her upcoming film Red Riding Hood, Seyfried is looking tres intense on the cover in a light blue tweed mini dress.

From the looks for Seyfried's cover video, her spread is going to look rustic, a somewhat ugly beautiful look.

ANTM Cycle 16 - Erin Wasson

Mollie (Credit: The CW)

Top Model is back. I am an avid follower of the series, and today finally cycle 16 aired. Following on from cycle 15's new 'High Fashion' structure 14 girls were put into a tough competition walking in Alexander Wang and Low Luv by Erin Wasson.

I've gotta say though, come of the girls are very doppelgangery. For instance Hannah reminds me of my favourite Analeigh from cycle 11 and Dalya looks like Simone from cycle 14.

Anywho I've picked my favourite photos from this weeks shoot below. As for possible winners I love Hannah, Brittani, Mikaela, Ondrei, Mollie and Dalya

Busy

This week I planned to get my life in order; to settle in and get ready for the year ahead.

A bit late, but heck I have been overseas...

After six months I finally got to hang out with my best friends Krystal and Yan, one of those friendship where you can simply pick up where you left off and everything is peachy. I spent my single Valentine's Day with them enjoying a fine and well cheap $4 pizza, a classic favourite of mine.
I also spent more time with Krystal taking tons of photos for the blog. It's a lot more fun taking photos with a friend, though taking photos on a hot summers afternoon wasn't too comfortable ahaha. Stay tuned for the photos

I saw Natalie Portman's
No Strings Attached, it was pretty good. I'm a sucker for Portman movies I've found. And it was great was to escape the summer heat.

Style Diary - Quilted Love

One thing I have realized when unpacking was that I have a lot more winter/cooler weather clothing. As it being summer and all its mildly frustrating that I can't wear any of these pretty pieces. I got this quilted shoulder sweater from Topman in Malaysia, and these really cool pair of black trousers from H&M when I was in Paris.

I particularly love the pants as they have really deep exaggerated pockets which work well with the skinny leg of the pant. Love love love

Follow the jump to see my lookbook shots...
