Last Week I took time off....Shocking I know 

I have this thing where I have to fill up my time with things, generally that's work or seeing friends and the like; I don't like to do nothing... it weirds me out. But like any human I need that random few days off to recharge.

I took a break to the Beach, Torquay to be exact for some much needed Rest and Relaxation and some of the good old Aussie Vitamin D. I even had my Marc Jacobs moment, with my Birkin Tote on the beach...one day it will be an Hermes Birkin! It was really nice just to sit down and read my Australian Vogue in the sun and eat and... well sleep. 

Did I mention eat? The best thing on a break is just to feast on everything anything in sight. (Another FAT Week it was). The local IGA stocked Reeces Pieces and Hershey Cookie & Creme Slabs, again a very indulgent time. 

The Wifey and I went to see the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, starring my Style Crush Rooney Mara. Tres intense movie, I liked the light and shade of the film with the random sarcastic humour.

Taking a Break last week helped to redefine things.

Priorities and the Importance for things and others changed.
All for the best and in the pursuit of that Path and Balance!

It is safe to say that with all of these food shots it was a FAT Week for me.

Not common, but needed every once and a while.

I like to have my FAT and Skinny days depending on my mood/cravings. But for some reason this week was all about the food and conversation. And with long conversations comes a lot of food!!

I managed to get a day off, which was tres relaxing. I've been wanting to sit down and read the stacks of magazines which I've bought over the years, but I haven't had the time recently. So it was really good to just sit down and simply read the articles that go with the editorials and all. Sounds weird doesn't it..?

I love love love reading the stylist and designer profiles. And note my Favourite spread from Vogue Homme International, Male Models in embellished Leggings. LOVE LOVE LOVE! 

Birthdays, Going Aways and the general catch ups were in order for the week. 

Trying to keep a balance somehow, with help from friends like caffeine and my trusty alarms in the early mornings.

By the end of my long week (which is Monday) I'm tres buggered and I'm ready for a break.

Luckily this week I'm off to Torquay for some much needed rest and relaxation!

Don't worry the trusty laptop is coming too! I'll be blogging from the beach.

I'm in search for a new path. 

Me being me I'm in need for new experiences and lifestyle.

What last week taught me was to follow my gut, and that sometimes the world helps to reinforce your beliefs and hunches.

When life throws things at you it's important to take it and interpret it for your own path.

I need to carve out my year and my new path. 

It sounds scary, but I'm just as excited.

My first week of 2012...

I have a funny belief that the first week of a year can map out how the year will be. 

Odd I know. And if so, my year will be Busy Busy Busy.

Still practicing the art of working and saving, I'm proud to say I officially have savings. 

Whether I still have any when I return from travels is another question I'm yet to ponder, but I have savings so I'm happy! 

I did shop... ONCE I swear... actually twice. I'm in the mood for shoes at the moment.

I'm continuing my wardrobe cull and a lot of my shoes got the boot, and for some reason I keep on finding GREAT shoe bargains which I cannot pass up. 

So when one shoe leaves the building another one turns up!

Being the New Year, new weekly arrangements were made. This led to a lot of going out with lovelies for Dinner, Shopping (strictly through windows) and some late night Karaoke showing off my finely tuned musical stylings. Though is it just me or do you cringe when you hear your voice being played back?

Because I do...

I still haven't really thought of any concrete plans for the year. I'm still waiting to be inspired.

I'm hoping that my trip to Hong Kong will inject some much needed motivation into my future path.

Time effects everyone differently. Sometimes it takes longer for others to do things, for things to happen, to reach the point of realization.In general, time works in such weird and at times wonderful ways that sometimes practicing the art of Patience is needed. I learnt last week that Patience is key. That as much as I want to control, get or know things, sometimes the timing isn't right and sometimes it just takes a bit of patience to get there.

Resolutions

 2011 Birkin Tote + Masquerade 2011 + Hot Summer Mornings + 2012 Birkin Tote... Purple!!

The end of 2011, and the beginning of 2012. Exciting stuff!

My lead up to New Years Eve was fairly busy, which really left me little time to reflect and get all nostalgic on what 2011 meant to me. 

I must sound like a broken record when I say that 2011 was a really good year for little old MARTAN. 

I came back from Europe with no expectations of what the year may hold, and then to meet people like Miss J Alexander and Gok Wan, attending Fashion Weeks, being asked to blog for the Spring Racing Carnival, even the smaller personal things like spending quality time with my lovelies and working hard, 2011 has been BAM amazing!

I try to always make sure that I use every second as possible, thus I'm such the crazy multi-tasker and sometimes a workaholic. But it pays off lovelies!

For my New Years I wanted to celebrate it in a club, just for the fun of it, having done the quiet and the house parties previously. 

So the Wifey and I managed to go to a Tiki House Party and then to GH's Masquerade Party. 

Note when party has a mask involved I'm pretty much sold

It was fun to bring in the New Year, though I must say once you countdown to 2012 you just continue the night.

What does 2012 have in store for MARTANmain?

I'm not planning any drastic changes or anything like that...

Hopefully you'll get to know me more, and maybe I'll get to know you lovelies better too! 

My blog is all about Fashion, my loves, my shopping, the world and how I fit in...really

I hope that all you lovelies out there will enjoy the ride this year!

I like to make lists, contemplate and always plan for things. 

 I must say 2011 helped to reinforce that I need a balance. 

Normally I write up a list of resolutions for the New Year, though for this year I just haven't had the time.

I do hope that this year has in store many great experiences, travel, people (and more shopping)

As long as I'm happy with the people I'm around and what I do, I think that's what I'll aim for/maintain.

I'm more into doing now than writing it down and waiting.

So am off to celebrate the year that was 2011

I want to thank each and every reader of MARTAN for being there, following my life and shopping habits throughout the year.

2011 gifted me with many experiences meeting people I thought I never meet and doing things which still look back with utter awe and shock that it happened!

So to 2012 you have some big shoes to fill!

Brights & Unif + MARTAN on Android + Christmas! + Summer lovin

The lead up to Christmas was crazy cray. 

The weather started to heat up with the holiday spirit.
I must say it I found myself feeling very nostalgic about the holidays, last year I was in Ireland enjoying a nice White Christmas.
Now in 2011 I'm back in Melbourne with the humidity, though the weather managed to offer some white with hail the size of marbles.
I spent my Christmas with the family, recharging and relaxing. Sounds simple and maybe boring, but it was amazing just to sit back and relax, no obligations or tasks.

I managed to sneak in a coffee date or two, dinner and some window shopping throughout the week. 

I was gutted to find that I've changed sizes which was torture when finding a blazer which I thought was my size only to find that it was too big. Oh the drama. 

I also picked up some new work shoes, opting for flat faux suede boots. Breaking them in has been hell for my feet, but they do look good.. fair trade.

I've recently been reorganizing and de-cluttering my life. 

It was funny/interesting to open boxes of stuff and thinking 'what the hell was I thinking' Safe to say I culled a lot of items. From random ornaments to dare I say clothes.. well I did donate them. Everything I have now I'll either wear, use or love love love. 
There is something therapeutic about streamlining everything. It also helps make room for future purchases!

Progress

When looking back on the year there are times where I think 'what did I do?' or 'what happened?'

Once things are accomplished I try and move on and forward, following the notion that you are only as good as your last post or achievement. 

Looking back on the year and the things that I've seen, experienced and the people I've met I'm humbled at my progress as a blogger and a young person trying to find a place in this big world. 

Sometimes we get caught up with where we are and where we came from.
