Style Diary - Houndstoothy

I love love love this jacket.

I've been doing a massive wardrobe clean out recently. I'm donating all my unwanted or unworn pieces... well to make room for more! This jacket however I've had for ages, but I'm still in love love love with it. I got this Black Friday Houndstooth jacket a while ago, it was one of my first clothing purchases. It's one of those pieces in a wardrobe that fit well, is fairly simple.. so in other words I'm attached to it.

Following on with my 'It's getting warmer!' vibe, I thought I'd incorporate the jacket into my style diary. I do love a houndstooth print, it has to be just right and I think the jacket with the black and grey works well. For  this look I paired the jacket with a navy deep neck singlet, shorts shorts that I made out of a pair of unwanted jeans and my new favourite my Unif Hellraisers (my loafers) !!

Accessorising I went for my MARTAN Antique Turquoise Ring and a Clutch I made myself.

Last night was the final Runway Show for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. 

Both shows featured look from RMIT Students.

I wore a pair of Silver Jeans, Black Shirt, Chronicles of Never Shoes, Ben Sherman Coat, Cacoon Bag and Agate Tie Necklace

Krystal and I had VIP access to the Platinum Bar at the Melbourne Town hall, with Cointreau Cocktails and Laurent Perrier Champagne.

Runway 2 had 15 student looks by Jessica Hendrick, John Gosper, Mira Hartanto, Sophie Jacobs, Jane Fuge, Jacinta Oliver-Cook, Anthony Tandiyono, Melissa D'Augello, Renee Le Hunt, Molly Herben, Katie Dickenson, Christina Exie and Ju Young.

The show featured a variation of looks, from Graphic Brights from John Gosper, Nature inspired looks by Anthony Tandiyono and Ju Young and Avant Garde silhouettes by Molly Herben.

Last week was my week off... in a long time.

Having finished my winter term I had one week off before going back to uni for Semester 2. Having no plans or work I wanted to ensure that my last week of full freedom was utilized properly.

I finally broke out the old sewing machine and decided to make something out of all of the fabric I collect. It was actually going by pretty well, learning as I go... then I broke a part of my sewing machine... Never fear I ordered a replacement part and I'm back online to finish my piece. I'll show it off as soon as it's done!

With free time I got to hang out with my lovelies, dinners, coffees and the like. I do like having nothing but hours for conversation or window shopping. Great way to spend a day.

The combination of time and our memories can lead us to forget. 

Why we do this is sometimes natural and at others something that is totally beyond me. 

I learnt last week that I hold a strong importance to hold onto things in the past. Sure the past can be rough, regretful and highly embarrassing but its those things you take into the present and then to the future that shapes who you are and who you will become. You can't be too busy or have any excuse to acknowledge the past. 

It's just as important as what's to come.

[T-B/L-R] Agate Hearts, Movies, Train to the beyond and my last Design Project.

Last week was the end and the beginning of many.

It was my final week of my winter term and my communication design minor. As much as I want to be rid of this uni course as soon as tomorrow, the sheer actions of leaving a classroom for the last time or even submitting that last piece of work was weird. I can remember in High School I always wanted to go and study in Prahran, though given I do also study in Lilydale as apart of my course it's funny how things fall into place.

I had a somewhat of a movie marathon with my movie companion/best friend/wifey Krystal. We saw the last Harry Potter Film and Bridesmaids. Love love loved Bridesmaids but with Potter I was left wanting more or at least a bit disappointed I blame as it is the last film there is nothing to look forward to anymore, unless you're one of those Twilight fans (which I am not).

MARTAN Jewellery will be revamped in a matter of weeks. Having been operational since April I've had some ideas in my brain I'm eager to try, and now seeing that I have some spare time I'm putting my ideas into motion. So don't fear the shop will be there but things will be changing so stay tuned lovelies!

Laughter is sometimes the best and only medicine. 

When life throws you a bone, an irony or even a twist of fate its easy to wallow and ponder. Laughter is the best cure, not to make fun but to release all of the frustration and emotion without looking or doing something crazy. I've done a lot of laughing last week, some funny and some ironic. 

All the same, all good medicine.

Last week was about Agate, Hearts and Lovelies.

Finalizing the July line for MARTAN Jewellery, 'Agate Heart Necklaces' are now available at the MARTAN Jewellery Store. I'm so happy to finally have them out to share with you all. I had been planning this line for a few months now, but now its time to plan on more new lines for the future! Exciting stuff to come. With the this new line out, previous MARTAN Jewellery lines are on sale!

My Wifey Krystal came home from Europe, its great to be able to compare stories about Europe. Sights, Shopping, food. This also means that our regular lunches are on again. I went with Yvonne to Ikea as well, I love love love walking around Ikea. Some say pointless, I say fun. I even ate at the Ikea cafeteria for the first time not bad by the way. 

I booked Sydney! I cannot wait, I'm counting down the days till Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney, Shopping, Relaxing...

Preparation and Planning is essential, though I don't think that we are ever really ready for things. 

I find that the term 'Fake it till you make it' rings true. Taking risks often expose us to the unknown, at times it's hard to want to leap for the fear of the unknown is great. But again, nothing can prepare us more than just doing it.
