Style Diary: Singin' the Blues

I hate to have a favourite but.. I do.

I honestly don't remember how I got this Blue Blazer. One of those random vintage finds that I bought probably under or about $10, something I just left in my wardrobe for a future occasion and what not. It was only recently I took it off the hanger (ripped off the dry cleaner's tag) and put it on.

Do we all remember Sex and the City 2? Remember Carrie's brown blazer that she always wearing throughout the movie (even with that FAB Emilio Pucci gown?) well this is my 'Carrie Blazer'. There isn't anything uber special about it. It's just your standard linen blazer, lined, big pockets, slightly oversizeduber 80's shoulder pads... but there's something about it, I can just chuck it on and I'm happy with my outfit. Weird no?

It's such a versatile casual piece. For this look I paired the blazer with basic tones. Simple black jeasn and a grey tank I made myself. The flash from my camera really brought out the blues in the blazer making it look much richer. Accessorizing I added my oversized cuff, vintage mini briefcase and a simple pair of black lace ups. Just keeping it casual. I guess everyone has that piece in their closet that they always wear to death, and this is mine!

Style Diary - Cracked Leather

Take a look at this Vintage beauty!

I got this jacket from a Vintage Store from Camden Market whilst in London
Its such a statement piece with a strong black collar, shoulders and cuffs. The best part of this jacket is the 'cracked' leather detailing throughout. It's an abstract design which shows up really well with a bit of flash.
The jacket is very Michael Jackson 70/80's retro, that's probably another reason why I love love love it!

Isn't this jacket tres amazing?
For this look I wanted the jacket to obviously be the statement, so I matched it with a grey singlet and my black skinny jeans (rolled up). Keeping the accessories to a minimum, I've got my black oxfords and a navy cuff. The jacket with it's structured shoulders adds weight to the look so the skinny jeans help to balance my proportions.

Style Diary - Lazy Vintage

Vintage is friend

My wardrobe (well I don't cupboards) so lets just say my clothing archive is diverse. Labels, Vintage, Hand-me-downs, Oversized, Black... I buy anything that catches my eye, regardless of where it comes from. Vintage is something I love love love. I probably sound like a broken record...

Affordable, Unique and full of character, I find that a good vintage piece works well because its something that no one can really get the same piece as you. I got this slouchy oversized grey Cardigan from a vintage market. It was a steal for $10. Generous sleeves, pockets and suede shoulders and pockets. Its one of those pieces that has that classic detail.

I wear this cardigan when I'm in a chill mood, avoiding black believe it or not.

For this look I wanted to go bright, with a deep white tee and acid demin short shorts which I made from a pair of thrifted jeansAccessorising I've got my ASOS marble clutch, geek glasses, MARTAN Turquoise Ring and my leather sandals I got from Venice

Style Diary - Summer of 55

It's nearly summer downunder!

I love love love warm weather, the sunshine and heat I find it hard to be sad on a sunny day. With the heat coming it's time for me to pack away the thick jackets and coats, opting for lighter jackets and lighter shades. I feel more inclined to want to walk around the soak up the sun... I must sound like some nut I'm beginning to realise... ah well.

Anywho for this look it's a more toned down 'basic chic' look. Trying to be simple I started with these light blue jeans, which I cut and ripped just to give them a bit of character. With jeans I like to collect every colour, and then different cuts and rips.
I paired the jeans with a ripped Hanes tee and one of my many black blazers. This one is a thrifted David Lawrence blazer I got for $10, a steal! Being a casual look the blazer is very 'boyfriend' fitting being a tad too big, but perfect for the look.
My shoes are vintage loafers which I got from a vintage store. They fit me perfectly and I'm in love love love with the leather tassels, it's such an old school shoe ah timeless.

Accessorizing I've got my 5 Preview '55' Necklace, Banane Birkin Tote and an oversized bolt that I wear as a ring.  Being well.. me I like to wear whatever I see and find. I found this bolt outside my house, a bit of antibacterial and BAM it's an oversized ring and I love love love it!

This is a really basic look anyone can pull off.

Style Diary - The London Look

Follow the jump to read more of The London Look...

It's been a year since I packed and explored the beyond... or well Europe for that matter.

I miss it a lot, though being at home I've been able to do some pretty cool things so its not all bad being home.  Especially my extended wardrobe. It was such a pain to pack for 6 months in Europe. I wanted to bring so many pieces but many were too big or just impractical for my travels.

I got this Leather Jacket from the Camberwell Market for $10 (Tres amazing bargain!) It's got these insane puffy sleeves, when rolled up give great texture to any look. This Union Jack sleeveless tee is from Zipia, it's a very gimmicky shirt; I don't wear it too often but I thought I'd pull it out for this occasion.

Finishing my look I wanted a sleek black look so I wore my waxed Bardot jeans and Dr Martens. I never wear my Dr Martens because I have narrow feet so they tend to make my feet look huge.

I love love love having  the combination of a statement vintage piece with complementing and contemporary pieces you can get anywhere.

Style Diary - Suited? Brights

Winter Blacks are no longer. Brights are the new black... or they're at least trying to.

As fashion trends filter down slowly down the chain, Spring 2011 colours notably led by Prada are making their way into stores. Welcome the brights. Not too neon, not too pastel, just high concentrated colour.

My wardrobe has the occasional splash of colour. Generally when it comes to accessories and the random print. Whilst on my travels in Malaysia I came across these pair of pants in a shop window, as cliche as that sounds. The colour struck me back in February, and now its only fitting to wear them.

Adding my own style to the trend I paired the pants with a cropped blazer, deep neck tee, vintage mini briefcase and matching bandage sandals. The blazer crops at the waist, letting the full pant show adding height whilst the cuff and vintage briefcase add some vintage 'me' to the mix.

Regardless of any trends I always have to put my own spin onto it. I hate the concept of 'dressing like a mannequin' which to me translates to 'no personal style'.

This is my smart casual 'Brights' look. Enjoy!

Style Diary - Savage? and Vintage

I love love love me thing Savage H&M Print

Every time I think of this print I think of London, Oxford Street, Shopping, fond fond memories. Featured in my Style Diary entries, I collected this print. I've got a cropped blazer, pant and these blue leggings. They are tres intense, and I love love love them.

Being Winter its gotten a lot more colder, and that means time for jackets, overcoats and layering. I never really enjoyed Winter, the rain and the cold but style wise it's great! I got this GAP overcoat on a successful vintage shopping trip. Its grey, long and fitted. For this Style Diary look I also added this black belt just to break the length and add some waist.

This is my look for winter. Simple pieces with one savage statement!

Style Diary - Pradaesque? Pants

Have you ever had that moment where you bought something, never wore it and then all of a sudden it's trendy?

I bought these drop drotch harem pants from Forever 21 last year before my travels. I don't know why I wanted them, I was just drawn to the obscurity of the print and of course the drop crotch and the like. I never got to wear them last year... I ordered them in the middle of winter and then I left for Europe

Coming home however I made use of the pants wearing them to the LMFF Ready-to-Wear Trunk Show and now here and there. Funnily enough the print resembles the fun fruity prints from Prada's Spring 2011 collection.. well I think so at least.

These pants are tres comfy and are just a lot of fun to wear out either casually with a tee or even a fitted blazer in the colder times.

For this looks I paired the pants with a basic Black V, Black Gladdy Sandals, Vintage Ring and these woven bands. One of them was from my Wifey Yan before I left for Europe while the others I got whilst in Barcelona

Style Diary - Blazing? Gold

So you know how I mentioned that I have a things for certain pieces of clothing. Drop crotch pants are probably my favourite, but blazers are a close second. I tend to wear them or a leather jacket. I just like the structure it can give to a look, whether it has intense shoulder pads or not the sharp collar and slim fit suit me well.

I stumbled on this gold H&M blazer on my second time Paris, here is the scene. January, I'm on the Champs-Élysées just finished seeing the Arc de Triomphe, and there is a sale at H&M. Could I resist?... No. Some of my favourite things I bought at this H&M so I went and amongst all of the sale stock (basically the entire stock) was this blazer by its lonesome. Tried it on and I was sold!

The blazer has navy and gold lining which I love love love, I matched the blazer with a dark navy leather tie I got in Ireland at a vintage store, white Hanes tee, my skinniest jeans, loose chain necklace and my killer black Zipia boots. I wore this look (minus the boots and + my McScarfage) on my birthday, nothing like a bit of shine to make you feel good.

Style Diary - Preppy? Vintage

So I'm a fan of vintage clothes. True to my style I always look for different things to put into my wardrobe, and with vintage especially I tend to find really cool pieces. I like finding vintage pieces and then matching them to current pieces mixing up my style.

I got this tartan blazer from a successful trip to Savers with the Wifey. It's double breasted with cute gold buttons on each side, and true to being vintage it has intense shoulder pads (a skinny boy's best friend).

I paired the blazer just with some short shorts, white tee and my lipstick necklace I bought from the Camden Market. I love love love it, printed on gold I just think its tres amazing.

Style Diary - Y5L Summer Love

When I was over in Ireland I got to purchase so many different things which I can't at home. 5 Preview is one of them. Based in Europe I was over the moon when I finally bought myself a piece from their collections. I've already featured my 5 Preview Oversized Tee and my 55 Necklace so I thought I'd give some love love love to my Y5L singlet. A cute play on YSL, normally I hate prints but I have a soft spot for 5 Preview. I was happy that the weather at home has been pretty good recently with the sun shining I've worn the singlet countless times.
